Voimme ratkaista yllä olevan ongelman rekursiivisesti. Jokaisessa solmussa tarvitsemme tietoja sen pääsolmusta, jos nykyisellä solmulla on yksi arvo suurempi kuin sen pääsolmun arvo, niin se tekee peräkkäisen polun kussakin solmussa, vertaamme solmun arvoa sen emoarvoon ja päivitämme pisimmän peräkkäisen polun vastaavasti. 



Pääsolmun arvon saamiseksi välitämme (solmun_arvo + 1) argumenttina rekursiiviselle menetelmälle ja vertaamme solmun arvoa tähän argumentin arvoon, jos se tyydyttää, päivitä peräkkäisen polun nykyinen pituus, muuten alusta nykyisen polun pituus uudelleen yhdellä.
